"That kitten has no parents. I was doing him a favour by taking him as my own."
William very nearly laughed. In fact he had to stop the chuckle from rising in his throat and it was with great will power that he even managed to keep his face schooled in a rather neutral way. He had no idea what she was thinking. No parents! That poor laddies mother had been hunted down and killed before they had even known what was happening and here she was trying to tell him this bull? He thought not. No bloody woman was going to lie to him and get away with it. "My dear lassie," He started as he eyed what was left of his whisky before looking back up at her. "You hunted down the mother and ate her...and put was left over in the freezer. Or have you forgotten I've seen what you've done?" He had been in that clearing and seen the blood and at some point someone else was bound to find it as well. Not that he was pointing that part out to her of course.
"I don't know why I am even bothering with trying to make you understand. You're too human."
This time he did laugh, although it was more bitter than the amusement he had been feeling before hand. "Human?" He questioned as he tossed back what was left in his glass before deciding he wasn't even going to bother refilling it...he would drink straight from the bottle if he felt like any more of the drink. "I'm no human...I'm a mutant. Ye think ye're the only one to know what its like to be alone?" He looked at her with a glare as if daring her to argue with him, because quite frankly he was starting to slightly the effects of having the alcohol (but it was nowhere near the tipsy stage so he was quite with it still) and he was getting rather annoyed with her pity party.
Honestly, she was a murderer. A mutant feral who had been left alone to go through the initial stages of the change all alone but even if she claimed it was for self preservation she had that choice of the path she was going to take. Yes, there was no way he would be able to understand what it felt to be so under your power you were a different person but he knew what it was to be alone...He had willingly left his family so he could keep them safe and even with the Brotherhood he was alone. There was no one who could understand his power and why he was so afraid of it -the only thing he was really afraid of. He was terrified that one day he would never step back into the light of day.
