PLOT

For centuries, mutants have lived along side humans, learning as they have learned and progressing as they have progressed. Some caused fear, destruction, and terror, often leading way to the nightmarish myths humans still tell today. Some did everything in their power to assist humans, using their unique gifts to benefit those they came in contact with. Still, most remained hidden, keeping their talents as their secrets. Even so, governments and scientists eventually discovered these genetic mutations and began experimenting on them. The need for protection, especially for the younger and more vulnerable mutants, arose in heavy numbers across the globe.

Within the United States lies a school intended for just that. Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters takes in all kinds of mutants who adhere to the same goals-- the education of young mutants in their powers and in society as well as the eventual exposure of mutants to humans in a peaceful, cooperative nature. Opened by Charles Xavier several years back, the school takes on both students and adults with mutative powers. Adults often become teachers and mentors to the younger population, helping them learn to deal with their gifts as well as with the normal teenage life.

Of course, there are those that disagree with the teaching's of Xavier's institute and believe that humans and mutants can never interact peacefully. One such group, the Brotherhood, tends to believe that humans are lesser than mutants and may need to be destroyed in order to save mutant kind. It is this Brotherhood, lead by Magneto, that poses the biggest problem to Xavier's team of X-Men. After all, both are fighting, literally, for the future of mutantkind, just with different outcomes of that future in mind.

Powerful mutants both, Xavier and Magneto are recruiting mutants to their teams to assist in what each believe to be the best route. And, each mutant will eventually be presented with the choice-- Brotherhood or X-Men-- yet some will somehow remain neutral, belonging to neither, but making their own path in the human world. It's a race to protect the future and a chance to make a great impact on society... however you see fit.

Students of both sides can attend Bayville High School, acting as humans within the general population. For those who do not blend in so easily, a holographic inducer cloaks their physical mutations to look like a normal human. However, the drawback to this is that the textures of the skin can still be felt when touched. It is only an illusion, a creation of Xavier's until the time is right to intermingle without fear of persecution.

When applying as a human, specify if they already know or do not know about mutants and how the character came to learn about them (if they know). Please, keep in mind that most humans do not know about mutants. However, in the process of RPing, it is entirely possible and welcome that a character who does not know finds out.

Originals are welcomed and loved here as this site is geared to support original characters and allow the RPer to create their own X-Men storyline with a character of their creation. Cannons are always welcome to those wishing to play them, and we appreciate those who desire to.

The time is present day, and the site is located in Bayville, New York. Please keep in mind that the plot here is very open, a sort of create your own world. We do not follow the movies, cartoon, or comics to the letter other than assisting with character creation and an overview of the plot. Admin is glad to help with confusion in creating a character.
