The world that goes unnoticed by humans is greatly shaken. The Strigoi are banding together in greater numbers and are assassinating the royal families. Victor Dashkov’s trial is coming up and Dimitri and Rose have to lie to cover their dangerous secret. A Secret that Victor knows and when he steps up in court there is a chance that he might tell everyone.
Adrian has come to stay at the academy to work with Lissa in understanding Spirit. He is the only one to see Rose absorbing Lissa’s bad energy. Whats worse is that he is the only one who realises it, Rose notices it but not like Adrian, he can see it. He also is using his stay to his advantage, he wants Rose all to himself.
What makes it harder is Lissa has Christian Ozera and has to divide her time between Adrian, which Christian gets jealous of and suspicious. Rose, who is her best friend, and Christian, who is the boy she loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with.
Meanwhile Rose is mourning Mason Ashford. He got killed while trying to get out of the Strigoi house where Rose , Christian, Eddie Castile, Mia Rinadli and himself. Mason is starting to appear around the school now but Rose is the only one who is actually able to see him.
The love between Dimitri and Rose is only getting stronger, they can’t seem to keep their eyes off of each other. With their practice sessions almost at an end and the field experience finally starting they don’t get to see each other. But will they battle? This is Rose’s chance to prove what she can do.
