* TARYN cuthbert FERN !
[/size]Full Name: Taryn Cuthbert Fern
Nicknames: --
Codename: Skela
Age: 17 years
Gender: Female
Birthday: December 25
Species: Mutant
Orientation: Heterosexual
Status: Single
Face Claim: Demi Lovato
Student/Professor/Occupation: Student at Xavier's School
Which side are you on?: X-Men
Abilities:
- Bone Manipulation - the ability to (re)generate new bone mass, the re-arrangement of bones, and projecting - or even pulling - bones through or out of her skin for use. Currently unable to control this to a certain extent. She is able to willingly force bones through her skin, but her bones also protrude when she comes in physical contact with another person, even without her intending to. Also, on occasion, her bones may protrude through her skin when she stretches...she is getting better about controlling that, though.
- Accelerated healing - A given, she is able to heal rapidly from any injury, illness, or poisoning. Without this ability her other one would kill her.
Ability Limits:
Character: Original
Eyes: Medium brown, hooded-lid eyes
Hair: Brown with natural chestnut highlights, shoulder-length, bangs
Body Type: Athletic
Weight: 129 pounds
Height: 5'6"
Flaws: A scar on her jaw and cheek from when she first discovered her mutation and accidentally cut herself
Favorite: Her hair
GENERAL APPEARANCE---
Taryn is built similarly to any "average" girl her age. Standing at 5 feet 6 inches, she is not the tallest person around, but on the same note she's not the smallest around, either. She has an average-sized chest and hips, and not much of a waist to boast about. Her skin is a light olive complexion, and she has a few freckles scattered here and there. Her hair is a brown with natural chestnut highlights scattered over her whole head, both at the tips of her hair and near the roots. Her hair is complimented by the medium brown of her eyes. She could also easily pass for an average girl on a day out.
The only time her appearance noticeably changes is when she utilizes her mutation..or if it activates on its own. Her bones can come from just about any surface in her body, wherever there are prominent bones. Often times some come from her elbows, shoulders, knuckles, the centers of her palms, her ribcage, and spine. However, her bones can come from any point. After her bones come out, though, then recede, holes are left in her clothing wherever they came from, so she often has to keep a stock of clothing.
Wardrobe: Jeans and a t-shirt seem to be the way to go as far as her typical wardrobe extends. That, or jeans, a camisole, and a loose overshirt that generally buttons up - typical some variation of a plaid coloration with folded sleeves around her elbows. She wears sneakers that are easy to slip on and off, or a pair of boots that deliver a bit of a harder hit than simply sneakers. If it's cold out, she'll probably be seen wearing a hoodie, hat, and fingerless gloves, but besides these things her wardrobe typically stays the same.
The Likes:
- Combat training
- Practicing martial arts
- Learning to use her power effectively
The Dislikes:
- People fearing her
- Pain from using her gift
- Her parents
The Fears:
- That she'll hurt someone accidentally
- Never finding a significant other
The Hopes & Dreams:
- To find love one day
- Prove to humans that the mutant community is not something to fear
Strengths:
- Accelerated healing coupled with bone manipulation
- Never gives up
- Resourceful when it comes to her own bones
- Will take on any challenge
Weaknesses:
- Not the fastest person around
- A bit temperamental
- Easily hurt by words
- If too angry, frustrated, or fearful at something or overcome by her memories, she will break down in tears
- Doesnt have total control over her power
GENERAL PERSONALITY---
- Somewhat Cynical :: Despite the dream she holds on to that one day the humans will be able to see that mutants do not need to be met with fear and hatred as they currently are, she is doubtful this will happen. She dislikes being in a situation where she is surrounded by humans, partially out of fear that one will touch her and activate her mutation, but secondly because of their reactions once her mutation activates. She feels as though she is a danger to others, and therefore likes to try to distance herself between them and herself.
- Proud :: Despite the caution she holds about her mutation, she also thinks it's awesome. When given the chance, she likes to show off what it allows her to do. Though there have only been a few occasions where she has done it, when she spars against others, she gets a bit cocky because of the natural supplementary tool external growth of her bones gives her.
- Self-Conscious :: Despite her taste for showing off her mutation at times, she is also concerned about how others - even other mutants - will react to seeing something like bones popping through one's skin, or pulling bones straight out of her body. Her parents reacted with fear and automatic hatred, and she fears others will react the same way, particularly if they unintentionally brush against her and spur the mutation into activation.

GENERAL HISTORY---
Born and raised in Ticonderoga, New York, Taryn lived a rather adventurous life. Her house was on the border of a lake in the woods, so she often took her time to explore her surroundings to the fullest as a child. She was always the outdoorsy, sporty girl you'd find every now and then. She wasnt afraid to get her hands dirty, climbed trees, ice skated, swam, and rode horses. Having the land they did, as well as the money from her parents' careers, Taryn owned two horses through her lifetime. Her first was a pony that she started out on, then once the pony - Pella - retired, she got a full-sized horse that she did more than just ride around in circles on. Her horse - Adagio - was her love.
Thanks to her constant adventures, she was one of the most athletic girls in her grade at school, and grew to be one of the more 'looker smarts' in her school around the age of fourteen, when she started high school.
Her whole life, though, turned upside down at the age of sixteen. Homecoming night, she was at the dance with the date of her dreams that she'd been working up the courage for a while to ask to the dance. The dance went as any girl could dream it would, they got closer through the night, and all positive emotions were practically bursting through Taryn's heart, which seemed to have a habit of playing hard-to-get. At the end of the night, towards the end of the last slow dance, he pulled her into a hug/embrace for a small peck on the cheek. It was then that her mutation activated. Holding him close to her body spelled no good. The dance was interrupted by yells of pain from the both of them, soon followed by his body dropping to the floor, and Taryn's staying upright, with his blood on the bones that seemingly ripped out of her ribcage and arms to stand straight and curved as though they were spikes.
Naturally, there was no positive outcome from this. The boy ended up dying, because of their height differences, the ribs that had sprung from Taryn's body punctured his kidney and liver. Taryn instantly became one of the most despised students from the wide friend-basis she'd managed to attain through the years, and her parents instantly pulled her from school. It was shortly thereafter that Professor Xavier and a teacher from the school he represented came to her house, to interest Taryn and her parents in the school he established for gifted youngsters.
Her parents, eager at this point to basically get rid of her out of fear and hatred for her mutation, alongside just about anybody else she had previously known, let her go immediately. The only memory she brought from home (aside from clothes, a stuffed animal, books, other basics, etc.) was Adagio - whom Professor Xavier was kind enough to offer a boarding place for - and his equipment.
She has been at the school for half a year, and still needs work on controlling the involuntary actions of her mutation.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE---Midna walked out to her balcony, letting her whole body be bathed in twilight. She closed her eyes as she stepped forward. As soon as the twilight was no longer obscured by part of her palace, she opened her eyes. The blue Twili markings on her skin glowed with a peculiar radiance that she found they had only when in the direct light of the Twilight Realm. When she adjusted her eyes to those who were on her balcony, she stifled a small sigh. As many times as she had requested they not bow when she appeared, they did anyway. Approaching her was one of her advisers. Her father had the same Twili as one of his advisors, so she had faith in her father's choice. "O Twilight Princess..." he said, giving a respectful bow from the mid-torso up, "Is there anything I may do for you?". Shaking her head slowly, she responded "Not right now...I have simply come out to enjoy the Twilight..." The adviser gave her a respectful nod before he walked off, and she walked towards the far end of her balcony.
As soon as she placed her hands on the rail, she let her head hang slightly low. She lowered the hood of her robe and let the light touch her orange hair, giving it the appearence that it was aflame. She looked up into the main light of the Twilight Realm and closed her eyes, letting her memories wash over her. Not all that long ago, she was at this very place, she was an imp hiding in the Hero Link's shadow, while he fought to destroy the Usruper King Zant, and restore her to her proper position of power whilst saving his home, Hyrule from the evil lord Ganondorf, and aid Princess Zelda of the Land of Light. She ran a hand across the balcony as far as her arm would extend. She missed Link, Princess Zelda, and even the Land of Light. She knew Shattering the Mirror of Twilight was the only thing she could do to assure that an evil never crossed both lands like that again. However, she wished that she could somehow see them again.
Turning around, she took a step towards the center of the balcony, but her actions were stopped by a wrench in the center of her body. It stopped her short, and her eyes widened. The feeling spread through her entire body in pulses, like it was radiating from her core. She had never felt anything like it before. What...what is this?! she thought in slight alarm. She extended a hand, and opened her mouth to call out to her one of her advisors, who were talking among themselves. However, she froze in mid-step, her hand still extended. Her body was being broken down into twilight particles. How is my own power being used without my activation?! Midna thought, now fully alarmed. Before she could do anything else, her entire body became Twilight Particles, and a flash of light met her gaze.
It was as though she was above a land, looking down. It was full of normal light, but everything looked different. There were many strange buildings, and a rather square one that looked as though a door was opening to the outside. This wasnt Links world. Where is this place? she wondered. However, her question wasnt answered, only responded to with a Twilight Portal forming in the sky, a few meters infront of the building with the opening doors, and her body of Twilight Particles breaking down again, and forming with her feet floating a bit above the ground. They formed as though a rush of air had came up from beneath her, and slightly made her robe flare out. Once her body fully formed, she dropped to the ground. She heard the breath escape her mouth as she let her knees buckle. She dropped somewhat gracefully to the ground and placed her hands before her while she slightly crossed her legs to the side.
She let out a small groan and placed a hand to her head. Normally, she would be unable to tolerate this sort of light, but luckily the power Princess Zelda bestowed on her some time ago that allowed her to tolerate direct light was still intact. "Where...am I...?" she murmured mostly to herself, but loud enough for anyone within a few meters to hear.
Taken from a futuristic crossover RP where I play as Midna from Legend of Zelda ^^
