The bright red Mustang slowly came to a rolling stop outside the dilapidated warehouse. The engine quieted from its rumbling growl, and the car was completely shut off save for the headlights left on to illuminate the dark alleyway. The driver's side door opened with a groan, and Wade stepped out of the car. Looking around, he shoved his hands in his coat pockets and sighed, watching his breath rise in the cold evening air.
He was completely lost.
Sure, he had been to New York City before, but he'd never been to this side of town. And the directions he had been given were scrawled on a Starbucks napkin in an illegible fashion. His latest boss was a bit... new. It was clear that he had never hired a mercenary before. But Wade didn't really care. He was getting paid an ungodly amount of money to break into some ritzy private school. It was going to be a cakewalk.
That was, if he could find the damn place.
Shaking his head, Wade sat back in his car and started fiddling with the GPS. Ever since he had driven into this part of town, it had gone haywire, telling him to turn when there was clearly no street to turn on, or alerting him that he was going the wrong way. It now simply refused to display anything, and was stuck in an eternal recalculating loop. "I swear," he muttered under his breath. "It's like some random kid decided to write me into getting lost on purpose..." He tapped the screen several times with the tip of his finger. The GPS suddenly stopped, and the screen went black.
"Fabulous," Wade grumbled. Climbing back out of the car, he went to the trunk. He pulled the lid open and grabbed a rather large and bulky bag. Slinging it over his shoulder, he shut the hatch and locked the car. He trudged out of the alleyway, as twilight fell over the city. Stepping under the light of a nearby streetlamp, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through the numerous apps. He found a GPS app, and, after five minutes of trying to get a good signal, he managed to pull up directions to his destination. After taking one last glance at the map, he pocketed the phone and trotted down the street, whistling an offbeat tune.
He was completely lost.
