Student/Professor/Occupation: Science Professor, School Doctor
Which side are you on?: Xmen
Abilities:
Telepathy: She can manipulate the minds of others and even higher order animals within a vast, potentially limitless radius. Her notable powers include:
¡öTelepathic Defense: She can manifest her telepathy in a number of defensive ways.
¡öTelepathic Cloak: She can mask her presence and the use of her abilities from being detected by other psions and psychic entities. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful psis may notice and 'see' through this ability.
¡öCloak Mind: Ability to rearrange the ¡°mental engrams¡± of mutants so their distinctive mutant thought patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devises or by other telepaths.
¡öPsionic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and of others minds.
¡öTelepathic Illusions: She can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
¡öTelepathic Camouflage: She can alter the apparent physical appearance of herself and other people by altering the perceptions of those around her. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). A limit, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people she is trying to fool, not the number of people she is camouflaging.
¡öTelepathic Manipulation: She can manipulate other people's minds easily, achieving a variety of effects.
¡öMind Control: She can control the thoughts and actions of others.
¡öMind Possession: She can possess the mind of another, and use that being's body as her own.
¡öPersonality Alteration: She can alter the minds of others by force of will, permanently changing their personality partially or entirely.
¡öMental Paralysis: She can induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
¡öMental Amnesia: She can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
¡öMind Transferal: She can transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if her own physical body could be somehow killed.
¡öInduce Pain: Can also induce mental pain merely by touching the brow of her victim.
¡öHeal Trauma: The ability to erase a person¡¯s memories and to heal mental trauma through ¡°psychic surgery,¡± the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a persons brain.
¡öMental Sedating: Can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them.
¡öNeural Jumpstart: She can increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, she could increase another mutants powers to incredible levels, but the effect was only temporary.
¡öDilate Power: Ability to place ¡°psychic inhibitors¡± in the minds of mutant adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.
¡öMind Link: Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
¡öPsionic Blasts: She can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and turning someone brain-dead.
¡öAstral Projection: She can project her astral form from her body onto astral planes or the physical planes. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
¡öMental Detection: She can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of himself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
¡öPsionic Firebird: She can manifest her telepathy as a psionic firebird; whose claws could inflict both physical and mental damage.
¡öTelekinesis': telekinetic abilities enable her to levitate herself or other objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, and generate concussive force or protective shields.
¡öIt was later revealed that Phoenix had a secondary mutation. This mutation makes her the physical embodiment of the Phoenix Force; she and the Phoenix itself has stated that they are in fact one and the same being. The Phoenix powers are infinite. She is able to manipulate matter and energy on a sub-atomic scale, although there is substantial variation in the amount of power she has access to at any point based on her current health, mental blocks (natural or constructed - by herself or others), and sometimes for other more esoteric reasons.
Phoenix Force Avatar: A cosmic entity which embodies chaos, especially the the act of creation (and necessarily destruction - that creation may begin again), and derives its power from those yet unborn. Phoenix's body is permanently tied to the Phoenix Force as a nexus. Phoenix Force thinks that Phoenix is its "host, body, and self." The Phoenix Force gives her vast psionic ability to manipulate time, space, matter, and energy for virtually any purpose. Phoenix can also revive, absorb, re-channel and preserve any kind of life-form, since the Phoenix is the sum of all life-force. The Phoenix Force can significantly boost her mental abilities allowing her to rearrange matter at a molecular level, to fly unaided through space, create intense heat and thermal energy by stimulating molecular activity to create fire, flames, and concussive blasts. She can create fire under any condition, including while submerged, and she can manipulate thermal energy in her vicinity. She can also manipulate the voluntary and involuntary responses in the human body.
¡öTelekinetic Sensitivity: That lets her feel the texture of objects she has a telekinetic hold on, feel when other objects come into contact with them, and probe them at a molecular level to identify if they contain alien materials or feel when two things which she has a telekinetic ¡°hold¡± upon are similarly composed.
Ability Limits: Her weakness is her lack of control. She always has a fear of her powers fizzling out and not working or working one minute and then just stopping. Her other weakness is her loved ones. She would do anything for them and does not want to see them get hurt.

GENERAL PERSONALITY---
Jean Grey is all about passion. In many ways her most defining trait is her passion. She is passionate about her abilities, her friends, and the cause the X-men fight for. She has a tremendous capacity for empathy and reaching out to others. She is outgoing, kind, and emotional to a fault at times. This in many ways makes her the emotional core of the X-men. She best embodies the compassion they stand for, reaching out to those who were confused and scared just like she was growing up. She is so compassionate she will reach out to those who may seem beyond hope to the rest of the world.
A lot of this stems from the nature of her powers. As a powerful psychic she is very akin to the mindset and the emotional state of others. Even before her powers manifested, she had a major capacity for empathy. Seeing other people suffer really does affect her and she is naturally inclined to do something about it. This level of empathy could make others potentially weak, but Jean developed a level of strength that complimented that empathy in a profound way. After the death of her sister, who helped keep her from getting overwhelmed early on, she was forced to develop her own strength. Since her parents were ill-equipped to help her, she had to stand on her own in the wake of loss and tragedy. In doing so she developed a strength to go along with her empathy that adds a more outgoing dimension to her personality. It goes beyond just coping with personal tragedy and extends to staying true to what she knows is right even when she is being pushed and pulled in other directions. Seeing her parents give into despair she not only balks that trend, she uses it as motivation to be better. It helps her avoid the same trend others in her family have followed and maintain a strong sense of humility that she defends with great passion.
But as strong as Jean is, her greatest weakness is how she is often overwhelmed. Before it was just dealing with the emotional distress she picked up from others. Then her mutant abilities came into the fold and the challenge was much greater. Her strength allowed her to function to a point, but eventually she lost control and it landed her in an insane asylum. Even though she eventually learned to control her powers, the fear of being overwhelmed remains a constant challenge and one she overcomes by staying strong and leaning on the support of others. This is a reason why she is so passionate about her friends. Like Sara before them, they help her when her strength just isn't enough. Thanks to such passion, her friends are often just as dedicated to her as she is to them.
As a member of the X-men, her passion and her strength provide an emotional rock from which the team can draw inspiration. Her passion doesn't just help her reach out to others, it makes her a powerful fighter who can dedicate herself to Xavier's cause. At times her passion can get the better of her, making it difficult to know the difference between what is truly right and what feels right. Despite such shortcomings, she embraces the challenges before her and channels her passion into everything she does while always maintaining a strong sense of pride and humility.

GENERAL HISTORY---
Jean Grey was born in New Jersey to a middle class family. Her father, John Grey, was a respected teacher and her mother, Elaine Grey, was a restaurant manager. Her early life was fairly uneventful, but even during these seemingly peaceful years she felt the influence of her family's past. She would quickly learn that the Grey family had a very troubled history. On both her mother and father's side, there was a long tradition of deviance, substance abuse, and overall underachievement. Her mother and father tried to stop the trend by focusing on stable careers, but various conflicts kept coming up with family members that took a toll on both the family's resources and their relationship.
From an early age, Jean showed a talent for empathy. When her parents fought it affected her a great deal, more so than most children. This kind of empathy was written off as a sort of sensitivity and often it was her older sister, Sara Grey, that helped her avoid beign overwhelmed. As a result, Jean developed a special bond with her older sister. They ended up supporting each other as their parents struggled to keep their fragile lives together. As she grew Jean contiued to walk a fine line between being overwhelmed and being empathic. It did not help that her family issues continued to put pressure on her parents. Then in one night everything took a very tragic turn.
While returning home late one night due to another family-related incident, the Grey family was involved in a terrible car accident. The wreck killed Sara Grey almost immediately, leaving a shocked and traumatized Jean Grey to feel her sister die in her arms. While she and her parents survived, her mother suffered severe injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down and in crhonic pain. She would have to live the rest of her days in a wheelchair and rely on powerful pain killers to allow her to function. Her father, while relatively unscathed, was overwhelmed and struggled to hold everything together. Jean, who was only eight-years-old at the time, was affected the most.
The trauma from the accident caused the first major manifestation of her mutant abilities. When her sister died, she felt it in her mind and from there her vast psychic potential unfolded. But without Sara to support her, this power easily overwhelmed her. Between her grief and her confusion, she sensed the anguish of her mother and the sorrow with her father. With her mother unable to support her due to her chronic pain, the responsibilities fell on her father. Unfortunately, John Grey fell into the same trend as other Greys. He became distant and started drinking heavily. It forced Jean to fend for herself and develop her own strength to get her through.
Over the years she tried to manage, but her inability to control her telepathy caused tremendous strain. For a time the thoughts she heard were thought to be symptoms of psychosis. Jean resisted any efforts to treat her as such, but when her telekinesis manifested it caused even more troubles. Random objects started levitating and anything that wasn't nailed down started flinging itself across rooms when she was agitated. This instability caused her to be expelled from school and it put further strain on her mind. Eventually, a fully alcoholic John Grey couldn't handle her and had her committed to a mental asylum. The experience deeply hurt Jean as she was subjected to shock therapy, extensive drug treatments, and special restraints. Over time she became mentally unstable and was restricted to only to the most secure wings of the hospital.
Her luck would finally turn when she was discovered by Professor Charles Xavier. Since the hospital struggled so much to handle her, they allowed him work with Jean privately. He taught her about her mutation and helped her gain control over her mind. Around this same time, her mother passed away due to her pain killer addition and her injuries. This caused Jean's father to descend further into alcoholism and because of his inability to cope, he signed custody of Jean over to Charles Xavier. By age 14 she was officially enrolled in the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning full time. She would go onto be a successful student and a founding member of the X-men where she acts as one of the team's most passionate and dedicated supporters.
Jean Grey is one of Professor X's first students and one of the first X-Men. After years of school together, she begins a relation with her teammate Cyclops.
When Wolverine and Rogue are attacked by The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and saved by Cyclops and Storm, Jean Grey is the one who cures them once in the X-Mansion. When Wolverine awakes, he's confused and feared and attacks Jean before fleeing. When Professor Xavier has explained to Wolverine the situation, he comes to Jean for making his excuses. The two have a talk, with Wolverine putting Jean's power to a test and teasing her, thus provoking Cyclops' jealousy.
When Xavier is made unconscious by Mystique's poison, Jean uses Cerebro to track down Rogue and Magneto, but her powers aren't powerful enough to use it and, even if she manages to locate them, the machine drains her out making her faint, and erasing the mental blocks Xavier built for restraining the Phoenix.
When the X-Men arrive on Liberty Island to fight the Brotherhood, Jean fights against Toad, yet Toad turned the tables on Jean spewing a thick phlegm-mucus-slime onto her face in which she struggles for oxygen and is found by Cyclops to much of his horror, he saves her by blasting the encrusted slime away. Once on the top of the Liberty Statue, Jean is captured by Magneto with the other X-Men, but manages to break free using her powers and Scott's. She then uses her telekinesis to send Wolverine to Magneto's machine, so freeing Rogue moments before Brotherhood's plan is accomplished. After the mission, she gives cure to Xavier, assisting him until he's healed from the poisoning. With Magneto captured and the Brotherhood disbanded, Jean can restart her usual life in the school as a teacher.
Soon after restarting her normal life something has changed: her powers has increased drastically since the day she used Cerebro, and Scott is starting to get worried about their extent: when Jean has some nightmares, infact, she's powerful enough to shake the entire room.
After Nightcrawler's attack to the President, Jean and Storm are sent to track the mutant and bring him to Professor X. Just for testing her new abilities, Jean drives the X-Jet with her powers, thus making Storm worried about her conditions. The two X-Girls find Nightcrawler in an abandoned church and learn from him that he was forced to attack the White House while under some kind of mind control. Nightcrawler joins the two, and they all together comes back home. On the way to the X-Mansion, Jean and Storm discover that the school has been attacked by William Stryker's men and that the students are prisoners of Weapon X. Intercepting a call from Wolverine, Jean and Storm picks up him and three students (Rogue, Iceman and Pyro) just before they cause too much damage to the Boston police. In flight, the X-Jet is attacked by two F-16s, and Jean uses her power to destroy the missiles they have launched, with her eyes starting to glow with a strange red light. One of the missiles manages to hit the jet, and the X-Men are saved by Magneto, who offers an alliance against Stryker. During a briefing, the former enemies share the respective informations about Stryker and his group, and decides for an attack to the Alkali Lake base.
In the base, Jean fights with a brainwashed Cyclops, and she manages to defeat him surpassing the limits of her powers, becoming surrounded by a red, fiery aura. After the battle, the X-Jet is damaged and can't leave the place before the dam bursts. Jean makes a decision, and leaves the jet: using her powers, she stops the flood and raises the jet on the water, then she activates the main engines and makes her teammates flee, just a moment before releasing the flood on herself. All her teammates believe Jean's dead, but, deep under the waters of Alkali Lake, a phoenix-shaped light begins to glow.
Depressed by Jean's death, Scott Summers goes to Alkali Lake to mourn his loss. Once here, he releases a powerful optical blast in the lake, and the ray breaks a telekinetical coccoon built from the Phoenix at the bottom of the lake. Jean Grey lives again, and reaches her beloved on the shore. She takes his glasses, managing to contorl Scott's power with hers, and the two share a kiss, looking one in each other's eyes for the first time. During the kiss, Jean abandons herself to instinct and accidentally kills Scott. Worried for Cyclops, the other X-Men arrive on the shore, finding Scott's glasses floating in the air with stones and logs. A little distant, they find Jean, fainted, and, surprised, they take her back to the X-Mansion. Once there, she tries to seduce Wolverine, but when he refuses her and tries to know about Scott, she expolodes: after attacking Logan, confused and angry, she escapes the Mansion and comes back to her childhood home. In here, she's reached by both the X-Men and The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, who start a fight while Xavier and Magneto try to convince Jean to join their respective sides. When Xavier tries to block her powers again, the Phoenix gets enraged and unleashes all her might, making everyone fly away, destroying her home and killing Professor X. Confused and saddened by her mentor's death, Jean follows Magneto to his hideout. Wolverine follows them and tries to talk with Jean, but the Phoenix personality is storng and sends him flying in the woods.
Magneto believes he can use the Phoenix's powers for his aims, and brings her with him to Alcatraz Island to destroy Worthington's facility. During the battle that follows X-Men's arrival, Magneto tries to make the Phoenix join the battle, but she's not interested, not even when Magneto is depowered by the Cure. Wolverine almost manages to make Jean's personality resurface, but the human soldiers intesify the fire on all the mutants, Phoenix included, so unleashing her rage. The Phoenix starts a massive attack on everything and everyone, destroying Worthington's facility and killing human and mutants on her way. While everyone is forced to escape, only Wolverine manages to go near her, since his healing factor prevents her from pulverizing him. When the Phoenix angrily asks him: "Would you die for them?", Logan replies "Not for them. For you." In that very moment, Jean resurfaces for a moment and begs Wolverine to stop her. In tears, declaring his love to her, Wolverine stabs Jean Grey, killing the Phoenix and putting an end to the destruction.
Somehow not long after that Jean returned. No one really knows how this happened and Jean herself doesn't quite know. She just remembered waking up covered in rubble. She soon made her way back to the school where she was welcomed with shock and happiness but also fear. But the Phoenix was gone, or so it appears to be. Now Jean and everyone else is left wondering how she came back and what happened to the Phoenix.
Not long after Jean came back but so did her husband, Scott. Seeing as they had been married they decided to see if they were still compatable after everything tht had happened. Scott still loved her and Jean still loved him. They went on a second honeymoon to get away from everyone and just be together. While on the honeymoon though Jean just didn't feel the spark they once had. The butterflies she used to get weren't fluttering anymore. The passion was gone. Once they returned Jean sat him down and talked to him about it. They made a mutual agreement to split up. The papers were signed and Jean was single again. They still remain friends though. While all of this was going on The Professor was attacked by a mutant from Weapon X. There were rumors that that was how Jean and Scott came back but Jean just doesn't remember. Its like her memories are locked behind a brick wall in her mind.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE---Heat. It was bright. Too bright for her eyes. A bird screamed and flapped it wings. The fire swirled around her. Darkness. Nothing but darkness surrounding her. Something soft falling on her body. Was it snow? Fluttering before her eyes. Falling to the ground like fallen angels. No it wasn't snow. Ash. It was ash. Ash from a fire. But what fire? Where was she? The ash kept falling. Burying her. Deeper and deeper. She couldn't breath. Pain in her stomach. Three thin scars. Bleeding once again. Tears smudge the ash on her face. Black smudges. She tries to scream but the ash fills her throat.
Jean awakes in a sudden burst of breath. Sweat covers her body as she shakes and pushes the covers away. It was just a dream. Only a dream. She keeps repeating it over and over again as she tries to calm her shaken mind. She looks over and sees the lamp and several books on the floor. Her powers must have been reacting with her dream. No not a dream, a nightmare. She turns and walks to pick up the lamp. This was the third night she had this nightmare and she had no idea what it all meant. She needed sleep but she didn't want to see the images again. Her stomach burned slightly. Her fingers absentmindedly ran across the three smooth scars on her stomach. That was where Logan had stabbed her. She had died. But now she was here. How? She didn't know.
Jean ran her fingers through her hair and walked towards the door. Maybe the medic lab had some sleeping pills she could take. She hadn't been down there in quite some time now. She remembered spending hours there. She remembered the first night Logan had arrived. How he had shoved her away. He had been scared. But soon he had become apart of the family. She had grown feelings for him despite everything. Jean had not seen him since she had come back.
The long hallway in the basement was empty and her barefeet hardly made a sound as she walked along towards the lab. Her tank top and shorts she had been sleeping in hugged her body. She wasn't expecting to meet anyone so she had not changed. Her mind was on the dream she had been having as she pushed open the door to the medic lab. She looked up and stopped in her tracks. There he was. Logan. Had anyone told him that she was back? He looked just as handsome as the first day she had met him. But right now he seemed upset. She suddenly thought of the scars he had left on her body. She tried to pull the short shirt down farther to cover them but it refused to go. She looked at him. He didn't know she was here. He was lost in his thoughts.
"Logan?"
