Codename: Panthera
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Birthday: September 5
Species: Mutant
Orientation: Straight
Status: Single
Face Claim: Kate Beckinsale
Student/Professor/Occupation: Art Gallery Director
Which side are you on?: Neutral
Abilities: Can shapeshift into a 600lb Siberian Tiger
Catlike Reflexes - To more agile than a normal human can have its advantages at the appropriate tiem
Heightened Senses - Can hear a little better than humans and see a little farther. Plus to see in the dark, how cool is that! Sense of smell is the strongest aspect as Kat uses it often warding off potentially dangerous people by getting a taste of their unique aroma and putting it into a small memory bank in the back of the brain.
Ability Limits: Shapeshifting into a much larger creature is painful and limited to only around 20 minutes as the energy needed to hold the form can in turn kill her. Another drawback is the fact her clothes disappear upon transformation but do not reappear when transforming back to human. They can make for an embarassing situation. Each transformation stretches the skin and pores which is extremely painful, but her mutation allows for the elasticity to remain.
Catlike Reflexes - All cats land on their feet from high distances...not exactly. If not timed perfectly, this woman will land straight on her behind. Jumping to a ledge that is only two inches wide and holding balance is also out of the picture as a 5'9" woman with 5'9" dimensions does not make it impossible but improbable.
Heightened Senses - Ever drive in a car and know a dead skunk is around? Imagine that ten times worse in a being with heightened smell. Conversations in another room are also sometimes not wanted. The distance heard isn't very far as it may only be across the room or in an adjacent room provided the walls are thin.
Character: Original

GENERAL APPEARANCE---
Katrina is an average woman at 5'9" but keeps her body in pretty good shape to look accommodating to clients while working in the art gallery. Her hair may be up in a bun, updo, or just hanging loose to allow for the waves to accentuate her smooth ivory skin.
When the night is dark and its time to see where she'll be walking, her eyes slit like a cat which can be noticeable to someone who is looking directly into her eyes. Her build is tone, but not muscular giving her the opportunity to appear somewhat like a model in most attires worn.
Her walk is that of a model on a catwalk, not by choice, but by pure mutation as the catlike reflexes within a human body tend to make her more graceful than she really is.
Wardrobe: Comfort is the main priority when choosing a wardrobe for this feline. The softest of cottons and flannels are the favorite to sleep in although less is better. The vital areas of her body are usually covered up most of the time, but at night sleeping nude would be preferable if given the choice. However, there’s also that small voice in the back of her mind that tells her the etiquettes of dress required her to have some form of clothing covering her at all times. That excludes showers and baths of course. Formal wear is something of a bother although Kat likes to look her best no matter what the occasion. The only time she was ever required to dress in such attire was the grand opening of the art gallery. Long revealing gowns are the shape shifters preference giving her skin air to breathe.
Katrina prefers to lounge around in a simple sweat suit when home or even keep on flannel shorts and tank pajamas. During work hours, a business suit that is tailored to the shape shifter’s body is not only an eye catcher but it makes it easy to talk to potentially rich clients interested in fine art. Usually the skirt and jacket suits fit better, however, a pantsuit is more comfortable. Kat’s hair is neatly kept up in a bun until the night hours when she frees herself of the pins and combs. A night out on the town normally consists of a comfortable pair of jeans, silk shirts and her favorite brown leather coat. Let’s not forget her favorite boating shoes or when she’s up to it, black leather boots.

GENERAL PERSONALITY---
Katrina is head strong, stubborn, but a devoted and loyal individual once she becomes close to someone. Her heart is in the right place, but when angered or in fear can show a different personality that is sometimes almost sarcastic and sadistic. It is a defense mechanism against those that might end up hurting her both physically and mentally. Katrina will sometimes keeps to herself avoiding any unpleasant confrontations. Like most females with a pulse, she longs for attention, but never seeks it. Katrina tends to open her mouth when she shouldn’t and says things she usually gets into trouble for. Hence her Thumper tattoo on the right ankle.
There is a struggle almost daily to make the mutation disappear but that is never going to happen. It is a disease, not a blessing or gift. The fear of becoming so enraged and becoming something your not is a burden on her mind to open up and trust anyone who is trying to help with powers getting them under complete control. Besides the mutation, once she becomes a good friend, she remains loyal until the end. Her heart’s desire is to one day have someone hold her and call them theirs. She yearns to be loved and accepted. Jacob summoned the ability within her soul to become a protective individual over the people she cares about. She is not one to wonder off once fallen in love and would never stray.
She has been out on dates with men, but as soon as her guard is down a simple flaw in her mutation appears, she purrs. That may be a turn on to some males, but it usually ends up disastrous when her emotions become overwhelming and an accidental transformation occurs. Kat tries to keep to herself outside of work, continually working on her control issues which may appear to be selfish. However, she is only trying to protect others from being a midnight snack.

GENERAL HISTORY---
Katrina was born in a rural town in Khabarovsk, Russia. Her mother, a zoologist, somehow convinced her husband to go to the far eastern side of Russia to study the habitats and dwellings of the largest cat in the world, the Siberian Tiger. Robert was ironically stationed not too far away on a “secret” mission. After only a few months in Russia, Shannon and Robert Hathaway received the news of the new bundle of joy awaiting them in nine months. The couple was ecstatic and well, nine months later, Katrina Marie Hathaway was born. Neither parent had blue eyes. However, Shannon later learned that her father, who passed away while fighting during one of the many wars, had luscious blue optics. At least, that is the story bored into Kat’s mind. The family returned to Perdido Beach, Alabama after their funding was completed when Katrina turned six years old.
At age nine, Katrina had her first experience with the mutated gene. It is uncommon but not impossible to inhibit one’s abilities this young, but traumatic experiences can jump start a mutation. During recess in school, a boy pushed her on the playground causing a skinned knee and torn leotards. In a fit of rage, she ran after the boy literally wanting to pull his eyes out of his sockets. In the middle of the chase, she fell from a pain in her chest. Other children watched as the little girl transformed into a small tiger cub causing havoc and was expelled from school. The close minded principal said that Kat was an endangerment to the other children and demanded that her parents remove the little “runt” immediately.
Shannon and Robert had a difficult time accepting their daughter’s mutation. She was so perfect in their eyes and was now flawed. Controlling her ability was arduous, if not impossible. At that time, anger would provoke the change, so the parents decided to take her to a doctor for medication to control the chemical imbalance that was thought to be the source of the violent transformations. But it never seemed to work. Other emotions such as fear, anxiety, and even pain would invoke the beast, something her parents began to detest. Love was simply needed, something Shannon and Robert forgot about once they learned of her difference in society. The family moved quite frequently from school to school and state to state. Although expeditions were a cause of some movement, the mutant gene caused even more.
She seemed to have her mutation under control in as the young girl finally settling in a small town in Thaxton, Virginia. During high school, Kat met a human boy named Jacob and fell in love. He accepted her for what she was and it was the first time in the young woman’s life, she felt loved and happy. However, during a dispute amongst mutant haters, Jacob got in between one trying to kill Kat. He died instantly from a gunshot wound to the heart. The angry feline killed a couple gang members leaving no remains for the police, only blood. But her parents knew from the moment she walked through the door. This was the final straw. They loved their daughter but they wanted normal lives again. On her nineteenth birthday only one week after Jacob’s funeral, Shannon and Robert asked her to leave. Not only did humans kill the one she ever loved, Kat’s own human parents were shunning her from their world.
Trying to ground new roots, Katrina went back to Russia. Times were extremely rough. She met an old man who owned the bar she frequented and offered her a place to stay cheaper above the bar. Katrina later learned that she reminded him of his lost love and even shown the resemblance from a personal album. They kept each other company and he adopted her as his own. It was only the second time in Kat’s life a human accepted a mutant without any reserve. And it was the second time Kat opened up and trusted another human.
Katrina took up oil painting, cooking and self-defense. She seemed a natural with childhood gymnastic classes and her catlike reflexes helping throughout the course. After her first painting, Harry (her now adopted father) suggested that Kat make this a career since she seemed to have a knack for creating beautiful images of the beast destined to be linked to the young mutant. Shortly after, Harry became sick and insisted she live her life happy and to just remember him in her heart. When Harry died of cancer, the father figure left his surrogate daughter everything. With no other family besides his beloved wife Beatrice, Kat had no idea he had changed his will just giving everything to almost a stranger. She was forever grateful since there was a fair amount of money saved away that became hers to do with as she pleased. Katrina decided it was time for a change. Before Harry died, he mentioned New York as a good place where starving artists can sometimes succeed. So, after taking care of things and selling his home and assets, Kat used the money to leave Siberia, Russia and move to New York. The young female struggled for a while, but had enough money to allow for a small rundown apartment near an art gallery being constructed around the corner. The noise was terrible to her feline ears, but she managed to bump into the owner of the gallery who eventually asked to see a portfolio.
Mr. Demorest admired her work and offered a position as his art gallery director as soon as the construction was finished. There was hesitation in the answer. Shortly after the grand opening, a group of vigilantes broke into the gallery to steal priceless artwork. They were disrupted by the likes of a young woman working late. However, without the ability to fight with a good hand, Katrina could only protect herself and in turn revealed her mutation once again. Mr. Demorest liked Kat. He kept her secret (because he had one of his own) and the gallery is becoming one of the most successful locations in New York for aspiring artists.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE---The Westchester Art Gallery was the newest addition to the town of the same name. The building had only been open for about six months before Katrina Hathaway was brought in as the director. Being a new resident in a new city, the young mutant spent most of her time at the gallery, in the office looking over the bookkeeping and appointments trying to increase the cliental of the gallery. Mr. Demorest had given Katrina a small show room to show off her artwork and it soon became quite popular.
Working late hours at night was a relief to the shape shifter as it kept her mind attuned to other priorities than the lonely life she was currently leading. Having to go home to an empty apartment only to be greeted by a stuffed toy was something the young woman was beginning to detest. The company of others conversing with close friends was only a dream in Katrina’s eyes. It would be dream only obtained through a fairytale ending. And fairytales are just that, tales that are only dreamt and thought of in the back of one’s mind. A prince charming or anything else would remain just fantasies that trailed the back of the feline’s mind keeping her in a much better world than she already lived in. Or would it?
Now, as the gallery was closed, she sat quietly in the office with her navy jacket strung over her chair. The only light illuminating the desk was the office lamp and her computer screen. She sat there typing away in her journal when the phone unexpectedly rang. Out of repetition, Kat picked it up and answered in her usual polite welcoming tone. "Westchester Art Gallery, may I help you." Who would be calling this late at night? Her family didn’t know where she was nor did they even care. Kat had no friends as of yet and clients certainly couldn’t be calling this late could they? She had moved around so much as a child and young adult, tons of questions popped in her mind, none of them with very good answers. Voices threatening her the night Jacob was killed, were echoing through her mind. She blinked away those memories quickly and took in a deep breath. There was no answer but a breathing voice. She thought a young prankster had randomly dialed up the gallery, so she spoke a little sterner.
"Ok, who’s playing the prank?" Again, there was silence, until a voice dark and sinister came on the other line. It sent a chill down her spine and made her hands shake holding the receiver. "You mutant bitch, we're watching you", it whispered and she quickly hung up the phone. Her heart began to race as she kept her mutant gene a secret. Mr. Demorest was not a mutant hater but if this wound up in the public eye in some newspaper or on TV, she could lose everything she worked so hard to obtain. Kat had no idea how anyone found out. Panic began to set in on the mutant woman as her eyes darted back and forth trying to consume what had just transpired. Sweat began to form at the base of her forehead and her hairline on the back of her neck was tingling as the hair follicles arose. She needed to take a walk, maybe a deep breath or two. She needed to get out of there, but work was still waiting to be finished.
All right girl, just calm down. A drink is what you need. Yes, something from the vending machine. That will do the trick. She arose from her desk and headed to the machines. Vending machines sometime have a tendency to have their own creative mind and tonight this one was screaming “Ha ha, no drink for you lady”. That dollar bill was put in every way, shape, and form. She pulled out at least two others with the same effect. Grumbling obscenities under her breath, Kat dug through the change area of her wallet like on a treasure hunt. Finally after picking out only silver coins, she had enough for a drink. “Oh thank god”, she muttered placing the money in the slot. But, she heard a noise coming from behind and quickly froze. It would be a noise she would remember for the rest of her life.
