Kiana looked around. Like an idiot, she'd gotten lost in this tiny place... Not as small as Crystal Springs, but still small. Somehow she'd ended up in this random dead-end alleyway. The taxi driver had been an idiot and didn't know where the Xavier School was...
Kiana had gotten off her plane over two hours ago, and she was still wandering around with her suitcase behind her. She sighed, deciding to stop trying for the night. The sun was starting to set, and no one wanted to be caught outside in a strange city in the dark. You never knew what kind of thugs were wandering the towns after dusk.
Kiana began to move toward the street when she froze. Someone was watching her... She could feel him. She turned toward his direction. He didn't know the full extent of her powers, and was simply acting as an informant. He would fight to gather information on her powers... Maybe she'd let him do just that...?

Deadpool stood silently in the shadows of the alleyway, watching the girl go by through the eyeholes in his mask. One look and could tell that this was her; she looked exactly like the pop star he had stumbled across earlier. The only difference was that now he knew the twins were mutants, like him. He ran through his objective in his head: find out the extent of this kid's powers. Once he did that, retreat and inform the men back at the rendezvous point.
So basically, I'm supposed to attack some mutant girl, whose powers I don't even know, survive, and go run off to tell daddy if she does hurt me, he though.
Seems easy enough.
The girl stopped, obviously aware of his presence. Ooh! Maybe she's a psychic! That'd be fun. It's been a while since I fought a psychic. He took her pause as his cue to enter, waltzing directly into the light, just like his boss had told him not to do.
"Heya there," he called out, stopping a few feet away from the girl. He made sure she could clearly see him, keeping his guns and katana in clear view. He wanted a challenge, and for this to be challenging, she needed to be prepared. "Ya lost, little girl?"

Kiana managed to remember one of the rules of the street. Never admit to being lost. "No," she said. "It was the taxi driver who got lost," she added with a laugh. Her hair, ever shorter than her sister's, was held back with a headband to stop her shoulder-length red locks from getting in her face. "You from some sort of movie company? No reason to have a Katana if you're not." She fished the sword name from the man's mind. Her touch was light, not shifting through his thoughts so much as she was simply reading them as they went through his mind."Or the guns, this far from New York City." She managed to catch his true intentions as the thoughts passed through his mind.
"I don't want to fight," she said, holding her hands out and open. "I have no weapons. Unless you want to count this piece of luggage a weapon," she added, gesturing to the suitcase. "There's nothing worth your time in there anyway. It's just some random stuff my foster family packed for me." She began to focus on an empty trash can behind the man. She made it noiselessly raise from the ground, intending to flip it and bring it down on the man, covering his head for the few crucial minutes she would need to get away. She darted away, not waiting to see if she had achieved what she had planned.

"No. It was the taxi driver who got lost." Deadpool grinned under his mask. This girl had guts. At least she wasn't some coward who ran as soon as she saw him. That would have been a serious buzz-kill.
"Eh, it happens," he shrugged, waving his hand to the side as if to brush away the conversation. "This is New York, after all."
"You from some sort of movie company? No reason to have a Katana if you're not. Or the guns, this far from New York City." He felt his thoughts being drawn back to his weapons. Is she reading my mind? ...Interesting. He filed that knowledge away as potential mind reading. He would have to test that theory later.
Before he got a chance to answer, she started babbling about how she didn't want to fight. Yup, definitely mind reading. How else would she have known that I meant to attack her?
Well, besides the obvious, I mean.
Deadpool heard a slight rattle from above, and he looked up just in time to see a trashcan floating of its own accord. It shuddered in the air, then dropped like a rock. With a flash, he drew a katana with his right hand and swung it, slicing the metal trash can cleanly in half. But in that time, the girl had vanished. He could still hear her footsteps some distance away.
So she can read minds and levitate things, eh? Let's see how well she works under pressure...
A sadistic grin spread across Deadpool's face, and he let his mind wander, glazing over every crazed though his insane brain had ever come up with. "Let's see how mind-reader fares against this," he cackled to himself. He sprinted down the street after her, laughing, "Hang on, I just wanna play..."

That man's laugh made her shiver. She knew NYC had its psychos, but this far from the city... And this man had the aura of a mutant about him. He was definitely strange. But Kiana knew she'd have to save that for later. Now she needed to get away. She shuddered at the thoughts. This man needed some serious help. In more ways than one.
Kiana felt the ground disappear beneath her feet as she fell forward. She caught herself with her hands, wincing at the pain. She got quickly to her feet and kept running. This man was an observer. He had already figured out her telepathy. She had to get away from the civilians. There were way too many normal people here that could get hurt to fight him. Kiana ducked into an alleyway, then stopped. Another dead end. She turned to face her attacker. If she could get past his wall of random sadistic material, she could get him to hurt himself enough so she could get away. Or she might end up making herself black out... But there was no other choice at the moment. She took a breath and got ready, focusing on diving into his mind to take control.

Deadpool slowed to a walk. The girl, smart as she was, had gone down a dead-end street. Unless she could fly, or teleport, there was no way she could escape. He strolled round the corner, twirling his katana like a baton.
As he entered the alleyway, he saw the girl backing away, her back pressed up against the dead-end. Judging by the way she had acted earlier, she was coming up with some kind of plan. He had to be careful, or he might end up losing her. And that would be bad. It meant he wouldn't get paid. And he really wanted to get paid.
"That move back there wasn't too shabby," he spoke calmly, as if he was carrying out a regular conversation under ordinary circumstances. "But you really should learn that it's not good to mess with adults. It generally ends really badly. Trust me, I know." For the slightest of moments his concentration slipped as his thoughts inadvertently drifted back to his own father...

"You think I don't know that?!" Kiana suddenly yelled. "I'm here to see my sister, and all I've gotten is a crappy taxi guy who can't drive his way out of a paper bag, and a random sadist who appears to be trying to kill me for no reason at all!" She clenched her hands into fists, one of them around her pendant. "Those damn paramedics wouldn't even let me ride with her to the hospital..." she shook her head.
"You're going down old man!" Kiana said, much quieter than before. She closed her eyes and reflexively put the fingertips of one hand to her head. She dove right into his mind, going as deep as she could with the hope that she could control him long enough to get away.

Deadpool laughed. He couldn't help it. "You honestly think that I'm trying to kill you?" he snickered. "Some mind-reader you are..." He caught his spinning katana and tapped the tip on the ground, a habit he'd found he did unconsciously when forced to explain himself. "Now look, I may be a mercenary, but I'm not getting paid to kill you. I don't kill people unless I get paid. Or unless they start a fight. Or if I think they're going to start a fight. But mostly only when I'm getting paid."
He noticed that she had put her fingertips to her temples. "Are you serious?" he whined. "You couldn't come up with a cooler pose? C'mon..." Deadpool was closing the gap between them, and was almost close enough to attack. He twisted the katana still clutched in his right hand, swinging it at her, but making sure that the sharpened edge would face away. He couldn't afford to damage the goods, now could he?
But his swing stopped within inches from her left shoulder. He frowned, trying to finish his swing, but found himself completely unable to move. He couldn't even speak.
You have got to be kidding me...

A small smile played across Kiana's lips. "Got ya," she said quietly. She imagined him twisting his wrist, losing his grip on the Katana. Then she imagined him slowly putting his guns on the ground. She could feel herself getting weaker, but she couldn't stop. Nor could she speed up. Speeding up could mean the guns going off and accidentally alerting the civilians to their presence. Which would mean Kiana would get discovered as a mutant. And that would ruin her career, not to mention her sister's.
When he had done what she saw him doing, Kiana found a strange memory. Her sister had a concert? Just the other day, by the quality of the memory. She saw what he'd done, and suddenly her anger fueled her. "You keep your nose out of my family life," she said, dangerously quiet. She kicked the guns away. One fell in an open basement window, while the other went down the gutter. The Katana she broke with her telekinesis. She released the man from her mental hold and went to jab at his throat, her martial arts training kicking in. She got to the ground and sweeped at his feet with her own, standing quickly.

Deadpool realized what had happened the moment the girl grinned up at him. His body moved of its own accord, setting his prized weapons on the ground. He winced internally as she kicked his guns away and broke his two katana.
Well, this is just fabulous.
And how am I supposed to keep out of her family's life? S'not like I actually care... I'm just getting paid to snoop, dammit!
He felt himself relax as she released her mental hold on him, and he sighed in relief, only to get a jab to the throat. Coughing, he staggered back. He saw her duck low, sweeping her leg out to trip him. He could have easily dodged, but that would have been too easy. Glancing back, he saw one of the shards of his katana standing directly behind him.
Maybe I should give her a taste of my power...
He let her leg catch his, let her flip him off balance. Falling backward, he winced slightly as he landed heavily on his back, and the katana shard was driven home. The sharp metal ran clear through him, ripping through his left lung. Coughing up blood, he theatrically clutched his wound, attempting to stem the pooling red with his gloved hands.

"I'm a telepath, stupid," Kiana said with disdain. "I know you've got regeneration abilities." She used her telekinetic abilities to pull the shard clean through his body. "We're both mutants here. No need to make a scene. Especially with so many civilians nearby." She didn't turn away as she sent the shard flying into the wall behind her. She knew that he wasn't to be underestimated. Then again, neither was she.
Kiana kept her eyes on the man who had attacked her. He was gathering information... But for who? That portion of the memory was blocked from her telepathic powers. She focused on the task at hand; taking down this man. She had been taught to not strike an opponent while they were down, but she knew that this man wouldn't be down for long. She got ready to defend herself against whatever this man decided to throw at her.

"Aww, you're no fun," Deadpool whined, watching the blade fly through the air. Standing up, he dusted himself off, flicking a few drops of blood off his gloves. He winced slightly as the hole in his chest healed, his lung expanding back to full capacity. Rubbing the place where the hole had been, he muttered, "Man, I never get used to that..."
He watched the girl prepare herself. Does she seriously think she can take me on? He snickered. "Kid, you obviously don't know the first thing about regenerators. We don't just heal." Proving his point, he backhanded the nearest light pole, watching gleefully as it snapped clean in two and crashed to the ground in a shower of sparks. "I wouldn't worry so much about civilians if I were you. I would worry more about yourself."
"And in the blue corner," he called out in a mock announcer voice, gesturing towards the girl. "We have our underdog, the lovely psychic, Little Red! Aaaaand in the red corner, looking to retain his undefeated championship title, is the amaaaaaaazing Deadpool! Let the match... Begin!" He took up a boxing stance, bringing his fists up in front of his face. An air of seriousness fell over him, and the smile disappeared from his face.
"I'd run if I were you, Little Red."

He thought she should run? "Just because you're strong doesn't mean you're smart," she said. "First thing I learned when I started martial arts was how to use the opponent's weight against them." She knew using her powers again was risky. Any minute now, she knew she'd collapse, maybe even pass out. But her anger fueled her. She was oblivious to everything else. She used the only thing that would be helpful, the trashcans. She did the same trick she had earlier, intending to cover him with the one, distracting him while another came from behind him. But the second one fell short. "No!" she breathed. Her powers were failing. Soon, they'd give out entirely. Then she'd really be in trouble.

Deadpool heard the two trashcans before he saw them. Diving right, he rolled to avoid the first trashcan as it fell where he had been. A clatter behind him alerted him to the second trashcan. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw it simply laying in the street. He heard the girl cry out, and he realized that her powers were beginning to wane.
Alright, I did my job. Time to leave and get paid.
"Already out of juice, Little Red?" he called out, shaking his head. "That's disappointing...."
Leaping from his crouch, he landed nimbly on a low-hanging overhang. "Well, it's been fun, kid, but I gotta run. Here's my card." He threw a small knife, which planted itself blade-first in the ground by the girl's feet. The red "X" on the curved handle was clearly visible, even from his distance. He turned, giving a satirical salute before flipping off the edge and dashing off.
"I'll be in touch, Little Red..."

Kiana had a little bit of energy left. She had just enough to send the blade wizzing back toward its owner before she staggered into the wall to her right. She had a hand to her head, eyes closed. She didn't even know if the blade made contact, but she had a perfect image of it in her mind. She had heard that her Uncle Charles was a telepath, and that there were at least two others on the campus. They'd need to know about the blade from the man who had pushed her so close to her limits.
Her powers hadn't completely shut down, though. She was able to sense the thoughts of a nearby group of humans, and they didn't like her. She looked up at the roof. There were a few up on each roof, and a few at the entrance to the alleyway. She couldn't tell exactly how many of them there were, but she did know that the man hadn't seen them. "Careful," she said, barely loud enough for him to hear. "Humans... With weapons... Targeting us..." Even though he had pushed her so close to her limits that she was on the verge of passing out, she felt the need to warn him. "Mutants... gotta... stick together," she managed before collapsing to the ground. She was still conscious, but she didn't have the energy to stand any more.
